Give me one reason why I'm going to Hell. (Or a couple of them. Or something.)

Then, (if you want to, and only if it's not too much trouble) post this in your LJ so that everyone can tell you why you're destined for eternal damnation (you know, fire and brimstone, demons gnawing at your innards for eternity...).

Are people really that insecure? I had a friend on my mind lately, so I rang just to say "Hi, are you alive? Cool. Just wanted to know" What I got back was a frantic phone call back, how did you get my number? "Um, from you" well, um you know, I am married, "Yes, so am I, and I sent you a gift" Just um, my wife she is really jealous, and I will be in trouble if she finds out you called. You being such a big part of my past and all.

OK, so we dated, 5 gazillion years ago, in an alternate reality, in a galaxy far far away. But we have always remained friends. But because of some immature woman who has a bucketful of insecurities, I cannot even call to see if my friend is alive? If you are that insecure about your partner, or yourself, do us all a favor seek help. If you can't be secure in your relationship for whatever reason maybe, just maybe you shouldn't be in it. And if you are so weakminded that you let someone tell you that you can or cannot call a friend, or accept a call from them, then please don't call me a friend - ever. I do not have time to expend energy on anyone so beaten down that they cannot, or will not think for themselves.

That is not to say that I don't understand jealousy or insecurity, however that problem is generally a personal issue, not to be pushed upon others, especially your partner. You married them, as they are and hopefully for who they are, not to manipulate them to your whims and insecurities. I just found out that a strong man is weak, forever tarnishing any memories or thoughts I will ever have of my one time friend.

So, I say "Neil do not jump off the bed, lets get these toys cleaned up so we can play outside." I turn and walk out the door and hear a very loud "Bang" then, of course screaming. That would be because he jumped off the bed and hit his chin. Busted it open the same place I did when I was 3. Thankfully it wasn't as bad. I clean it up and put a small bandage on it, then I start to wonder if Grace is going to think he needs stitches. Mind you, I don't think he does, I just scratched mine out 3 times anyways, and his is smaller, but you never know. So I call Mom who comes over with the liquid bandage and butterfly closures. She agrees that I shouldn't take him ( they are only going to put the liquid bandage on it anymore). Meanwhile we are fixing him up and Nicky comes out and hands me a handful of beads. I know what they are but I let him tell me: "Um, Aunt Christy, so when I wasn't near it, and um wasn't messing with it, um, um these things fell off into my hand" Those things were an entire section of hand beaded fringe that I put on a scarf. That would have taken an immense amount of pulling to get off. not to mention the time it took me to do it, or the fact that he never should have been near it.....She just had to have boys!

We aren't even going to discuss her finding all of this incredibly funny, after the initial So your kid went and busted up his chin conversation. Is it nap time yet?

the Perfectionist
Test finished!
you chose CZ - your Enneagram type is ONE.

"I do everything the right way"

Perfectionists are realistic, conscientious, and principled. They strive to live up to their high ideals.

How to Get Along with Me

  • Take your share of the responsibility so I don't end up with all the work.
  • Acknowledge my achievements.
  • I'm hard on myself. Reassure me that I'm fine the way I am.
  • Tell me that you value my advice.
  • Be fair and considerate, as I am.
  • Apologize if you have been unthoughtful. It will help me to forgive.
  • Gently encourage me to lighten up and to laugh at myself when I get uptight, but hear my worries first.

What I Like About Being a One

  • being self-disciplined and able to accomplish a great deal
  • working hard to make the world a better place
  • having high standards and ethics; not compromising myself
  • being reasonable, responsible, and dedicated in everything I do
  • being able to put facts together, coming to good understandings, and figuring out wise solutions
  • being the best I can be and bringing out the best in other people

What's Hard About Being a One

  • being disappointed with myself or others when my expectations are not met
  • feeling burdened by too much responsibility
  • thinking that what I do is never good enough
  • not being appreciated for what I do for people
  • being upset because others aren't trying as hard as I am
  • obsessing about what I did or what I should do
  • being tense, anxious, and taking things too seriously

Ones as Children Often

  • criticize themselves in anticipation of criticism from others
  • refrain from doing things that they think might not come out perfect
  • focus on living up to the expectations of their parents and teachers
  • are very responsible; may assume the role of parent
  • hold back negative emotions ("good children aren't angry")

Ones as Parents

  • teach their children responsibility and strong moral values
  • are consistent and fair
  • discipline firmly

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.

I have heard arguements for and against, and this is all I have to say:

Anyone who thinks that another's life is worth taking over the money in their pocket, the money in the safe, or the job lost forfeits their own.

We all love you Greg, your life was worth so much more!
